Pedestrian rushed to hospital with life changing injuries after bus entrapment in Lewisham

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries after becoming entrapment under a Route 180  Destin for Lewisham shopping bus.  The bus has just pulled out of LewishamDLR station. 


A full forensic collision investigation was been launched and is being overseen by officers based at the Met Traffic Garage at Catford.


A major road has been closed at  Loampit Vale at the junction with Station Road.



Due to the collision, a number of buses have been put on a diverted route and they have been delayed due to collision investigation work being carried out. The routes affected are 21.47.105,136,180,208,225,321,436,484,N89,N21.,N136.

Firefighters from the London fire and rescue service were scrambled along with Hart Paramedics from the London ambulance service and Officers from the Met Police at around about 10.50pm on Friday evening.

The pedestrian had been in collision with the bus at a crossing point and was carried some distance and then became entrapped under the bus.  One woman said Medics and Police help up a blue sheet whilst firefighters used lifting equipment to free the person.


The pedestrian was treated for life-changing injuries at the scene before being rushed to a major trauma unit in London.


The road closures are likely to remain in place for a number of hours  to assist with the investigation work


The Met Police have been approached for a statement.
