A suspected drug dealer has been arrested after a police patrol pursued a car allegedly being driven dangerously in Gillingham

At 3.45am on Tuesday 24 May 2022, officers saw a VW Golf travelling at speed in Brompton, and indicated for the driver to stop.

The vehicle did not stop and continued through the town centre to Marlborough Road, where it came to a halt.

The driver is alleged to have left the car on foot and a man was later located in Great Lines park and detained.

The VW was searched and officers seized a quantity of harvested cannabis plants in three bin liners and a machete.

Marian Marin, of Elm Road, Gillingham, was later charged with dangerous driving and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

The 21-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25 May, where he was bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 22 June.
