A suspected thief has been charged after a motorcycle was stolen from a Tonbridge address.

At around 5.25am on Tuesday 16 June 2020, officers were called to suspicious activity in Coventry Road. Patrols searched the area and saw two men in Romney Way next to a Yamaha motorbike.

The suspects ran from the scene and after a short pursuit one was detained nearby.  Following enquiries, it was found the Yamaha had allegedly been stolen from an address in Norwich Avenue.

A second motorcycle at the same premises had reportedly suffered damage to its alarm wires.

Bobby Thorpe, aged 27, of Norfolk Road, Tonbridge was later charged with theft and interfering with a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 17 June.
