Burglar who robbed from two church in Kent has been charged

A suspected burglar is due in court after two churches and a council office were targeted in west Kent.

Between 5 and 10 June 2020, a burglary was reported to have taken place at the Old Methodist church hall, High Street, Otford. A glass door was damaged and a number of chocolate bars were alleged to have been stolen.

Kent Police was notified of a further break-in between 18 and 22 June at the offices of Riverhead parish council, Amherst Hill, Sevenoaks. Damage was caused to an internal door and a quantity of cash was taken.

Five days later a burglary was reported at St John’s church hall in Hildenborough, Tonbridge where cash was stolen after cupboards were forced open.

 

A 44-year-old man from Treharris, Mid Glamorgan, was interviewed on 25 September in connection with the incidents.

On Thursday 10 December, he was issued with a postal requisition to attend Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 22 March 2021 regarding three burglary charges.
