Two London Men Charged Over Horrific Southampton Acid Attack

Acid Thrown in Brutal Face Attack

Two brothers from London have been charged over a savage acid attack in Southampton that left a woman badly injured. Geoffrey Midmore, 26, faces charges of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and conspiracy to commit GBH. His younger brother, Billy Midmore, 22, is charged with conspiracy to commit GBH with intent.

The shocking attack happened on 18 September 2015 outside Turtle Bay restaurant when acid was hurled onto victim Carla Whitlock’s face, terrifying the local community.

Charged Men to Head to Southampton Court

Both Geoffrey and Billy Midmore are set to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 1 October 2015. A 33-year-old woman initially arrested in connection with the case has since been released on bail.

Prosecutor Confident of Conviction

“I have authorised Hampshire Police to charge Geoffrey Midmore and Billy Midmore with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent on Carla Whitlock,” said John Montague, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for Wessex.

“It is alleged that acid was thrown on Ms Whitlock’s face outside the Turtle Bay restaurant in Southampton. After carefully reviewing the evidence, I am satisfied there is a realistic prospect of conviction. It is in the public interest to prosecute these men.”

Fair Trial Warning Issued

Montague also warned the public to avoid sharing any details or comments that could influence the trial. “These defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is vital that there is no reporting, commentary or online sharing that could prejudice proceedings.”
