Huge Blaze Leaves Staff Hospital Tenants Homeless in Redhill
A fierce fire tore through a staff hospital accommodation block in Redhill, Surrey, leaving several people homeless. The blaze reportedly started in a third-floor kitchen before ripping up to the newly refurbished roof.
Flames Rip Through Royal Earlswood Park Building
On Tuesday evening, flames shot from the roof of the building at Royal Earlswood Park. Around 40 firefighters from across Surrey rushed to the scene, battling the blaze with six fire engines.
Firefighters Hailed for Stopping Blaze Spreading to Other Homes
Fire chiefs praised the crews’ heroic efforts for preventing the fire from engulfing neighbouring properties. Approximately ten residents were safely evacuated, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
A spokesman said: “We believe the fire was started by a cooker on the third floor before it spread upwards. Thanks to the excellent work of our teams, the damage was contained.”
The fire broke out just before 10.30pm as crews sprang into action to tackle the fierce flames.
