MP Threatened with Death Over Controversial Airport Expansion
Sinister Email Sparks Police Probe
Police are cracking down on threats against MPs after a chilling email targeted Paul Holmes, the British MP backing a new airport plan. The message, from someone claiming to be “James Weight,” warned:
“Your support for this criminally stupid airport expansion has placed a mark on your head son, you are going to be taken and killed.”
“We may have to blow up your car and destroy your home. You corrupt c**ts have to be stopped.”
“Violence is our only option because we are now coming for all of you who are involved in destroying our beautiful countryside.”
Jo Cox Murder Still Haunts Parliament
Officials are taking the threats very seriously, mindful of the tragic fate of Labour MP Jo Cox. She was brutally killed on 16 June 2016 in Birstall, West Yorkshire, for her political views, shot and stabbed multiple times in a hate-fuelled attack.
MP Paul Holmes Fires Back
Paul Holmes, unfazed by the terrifying message, said:
“Charming email from ‘James Weight’ threatening to kill me and blow up my car because of my support for the airport expansion. Nothing will stop me from aiming to do the right thing for my constituency.”
“I’ve reported this to the police but I’ll always name and shame these emails.”
The threats highlight the growing tension around environmental issues and airport development. Police have launched an inquiry, reinforcing their commitment to protecting elected officials at all costs.
