Heatwave Sizzles Out as Thunderstorms Hit UK
Wave goodbye to last week’s scorching heatwave. A low-pressure system has moved in, bringing unsettled skies, thunder, and heavy rain to much of the UK. It’s also getting windier and cooler as the week unfolds.
Thunderstorms Trigger Warnings Across the UK
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Willington warns: “Yellow warnings are in place across much of the UK, except the south, for thunderstorms and heavy rain over the coming days.” Scotland is in for the worst, with Amber warnings issued for intense storms and downpours.
“Rainfall amounts will vary from place to place. Some areas may see surface water flooding and disruption before the weather clears and moves south on Thursday,” Willington added.
Showers and Thunderstorms to Continue, Temperatures Dip
- Heavy showers and occasional thunder expected through the week
- Some sunny spells will break through the clouds
- Temperatures will hover at or below average for this time of year
So prepare your umbrellas and brace for a soggy, blustery end to the week. The heatwave may be gone, but the drama in the skies is here to stay—for now.
