Long-Serving Firefighter Dave Hill Dies Suddenly

Dave Hill, 51, a beloved Crew Manager at Longton, tragically passed away at Royal Stoke University Hospital on 2 January 2022.

31 Years of Service Ends Too Soon

Dave, a key member of Green Watch, had just been promoted to Crew Manager after three decades in the fire service. He began as an on-call firefighter in August 1990 before going full-time in October 2000.

During his long career, Dave served all over Staffordshire, including stints in Burton and Hanley. He held temporary Crew Manager roles from 2008 and made the position permanent on 16 December 2021.

Tributes Pour In for Dedicated Firefighter

“We are devastated and shocked by the sudden and unexpected death of our well-respected colleague, Dave,” said Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber.

“Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked alongside him. He was a well-liked and dedicated professional firefighter who worked to make a difference to the communities he served.

“Our thoughts remain with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
