Tragedy struck outside Holborn Station on Tuesday morning as a cyclist was killed in a collision with an HGV.
Cyclist Fatally Hit on Busy Kingsway Road
Police rushed to Kingsway, WC2, at 10.08am on 1 March after reports of a crash involving a woman cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade, attended the scene. Sadly, the cyclist, a woman in her late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway as Police Seek Witnesses
Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have taken over, led by Detective Sergeant Rebecca Collens. She described the incident as “incredibly tragic” and urged witnesses to come forward.
“We are especially keen to speak to a woman who handed in the victim’s mobile phone after it fell during the collision. She may have witnessed the crash itself. If this is you, please come forward — you are not in any trouble but your information could be key to our investigation.”
“If you were driving in the area, please check your dashcam for footage that could help.”
HGV Driver Cooperating; No Arrests Made
The HGV driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities. No arrests have been made so far.
