Tragic Teen Crash: Ely Mourns Kyrees and Harvey
The funeral for best friends Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15, who died in a heartbreaking crash in Ely, is set for today. The service kicks off at 1pm BST at the Church of the Resurrection, Grand Avenue, Cardiff. Families and friends will then gather for a burial and a wake to celebrate the boys’ lives.
School Shuts Amidst Grief
Windsor Clive Primary School will close for the day, following talks with South Wales Police, Cardiff Council, and the church. The move aims to safeguard the school community’s welfare during this emotional time.
Crash Under Investigation as Police Officers Face Probe
The fatal crash happened on May 22 on Snowden Road around 6pm. Kyrees and Harvey were riding an e-bike when a police van was chasing them minutes before the collision. The serious incident remains under investigation, with two South Wales officers being examined for gross misconduct by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Massive Tribute: Rolls Royces, Hearses, and Hundreds of Bikes
The boys’ friends have organised an extraordinary farewell. The funeral procession features two limousines, four hearses, eight Rolls Royces, and up to 400 motorbikes. This large turnout showcases just how much Kyrees and Harvey meant to their community.
Canon Jan Gould of the Church of the Resurrection Ely said the funeral is vital “to help the family and community find closure and begin healing.”
A family friend has urged mourners to wear something blue in tribute, asking everyone to celebrate the boys’ lives with love and unity.
