Tyre Extinguishers Slash Tyres at Exeter Land Rover Dealer in Furious Retaliation
The Tyre Extinguishers, a militant climate activist group, have vandalised at least 60 Land Rover vehicles at a dealership in Exeter. Their brutal act of tyre destruction is a direct response to last month’s devastating Wimbledon school crash.
Wimbledon Tragedy Sparks Fury
Last month, a Land Rover smashed through the gates of The Study Prep school in Wimbledon, killing two eight-year-old girls and injuring others. The driver was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed. Now, activists are taking matters into their own hands.
Video Evidence Shows Deliberate Damage at Devon Garage
Online footage reveals a vandal drilling into tyres at the Devon dealership. The Tyre Extinguishers issued a statement explaining their rage against “grossly-inappropriate private vehicles” especially SUVs, which they claim are eight times more likely to cause fatal accidents involving children than smaller cars.
“This act of retaliation is intended as a peaceful and non-violent demonstration to draw attention to the presence of grossly-inappropriate private vehicles in our towns and cities,” said the Tyre Extinguishers. “We believe this escalation is necessary to stop these vehicles wrecking lives and pushing the climate crisis off the cliff edge.”
Targeting SUVs: Climate Crisis Meets Road Safety
The group has been targeting SUVs since 2022. They argue these vehicles are dangerous, unnecessary, and a climate disaster. Their campaign includes electric and hybrid SUVs, citing the deadly scarcity of rare earth metals and risks posed to other road users.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed investigations into the criminal damage are ongoing. Dealership owner Vertu Motors condemned the attacks, calling trespass and property damage “unacceptable” and confirming the matter has been handed to police.
The Tyre Extinguishers hope their tyre-slashing spree will jolt the public and officials into action — pushing for safer roads and urgent climate measures to prevent more tragedies.
