Tragic Death of Beloved Reverend and Wife in Anglesey Crash
Reverend Stephen Burch and his wife Katherine, both 65, have tragically died in a fatal road traffic collision in Beaumaris, Anglesey. The couple, from Alcester, Warwickshire, were deeply mourned by the Diocese of Coventry, where Reverend Stephen served for 35 years.
Faithful Service and Community Impact
Known affectionately as Reverend Steve, he was the Vicar of St James, Fletchamstead and highly regarded for his warmth, humour, and unshakeable faith. He took an active role with the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) and led worship ministries. His wife Kathy was equally devoted, working with CPAS and co-running an Alpha course that inspired many baptisms and confirmations in their community.
Fatal Collision on Alma Street
The couple’s lives were cut short in a deadly crash on Wednesday, August 28, involving a grey Audi A8 and two pedestrians. The accident happened shortly after 2:45 PM BST on Alma Street, Beaumaris. Despite swift emergency response, Reverend Steve, Kathy, and the 81-year-old Audi driver were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway – Police Appeal for Witnesses
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit extended condolences to the families and thanked the community for support.
