21-Year-Old Arrested After Headlam Green Shooting

A 21-year-old man was arrested following a shooting on the Headlam Green estate in Byker, Newcastle, on Wednesday, 16 October.

Victim Hospitalised but Injuries Not Life-Threatening

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after a man in his 40s was found with gunshot wounds. He was treated at hospital, and Northumbria Police confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening.

Armed Police and Dogs Descend on Scene

Armed officers and police dogs swarmed the area near the Stags Head pub. A police cordon was set up as investigations kicked off.

Police Appeal for Information

“At around 1:50 PM today, we received reports of a disturbance on Headlam Green,” said a Northumbria Police spokesperson. “Emergency services found a man with injuries believed to be caused by a firearm. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 21-year-old has been arrested and remains in police custody while inquiries continue. Anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist our investigation.”
