Major Traffic Disruption

National Highways reported extensive tailbacks of up to 12 miles on the M25 anticlockwise between junctions 9 and 8. Drivers have been warned to expect delays of up to two hours when approaching the scene. The closure has forced many motorists to find alternative routes to avoid the congestion.

Emergency Services At Scene

In addition to fire crews, Surrey police, ambulance services, and highway officials are on site managing the situation. Authorities have advised drivers to avoid the area where possible as the incident is still active.

Heatwave Adds Risk

The fire occurred during an amber heat health alert covering Surrey, Greater London, and the South East, with temperatures nearing 30°C. Officials have cautioned that the dry and hot weather conditions increase the risk of fires and wildfires, calling for heightened vigilance.
