Police were alerted at 1:23pm on Monday, March 31 when Kaliyah was spotted entering the water near Barge House Causeway, E16. The young girl had been playing on a school inset day before she disappeared underwater. The Metropolitan Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately, launching a full-scale search operation.

Despite frantic efforts using drones, boats, and specialist teams to scour the river and banks, Kaliyah remains missing. Police have now shifted the operation from search to recovery, combing the area meticulously.

Chief Superintendent Dan Card, local policing commander for northeast London, said:

“Our specialist officers are supporting Kaliyah’s family through this deeply upsetting time, and our thoughts go to all those affected.

He added that extra officers will patrol the area in the coming days, urging residents to come forward with any information and reassuring the community of ongoing support.
