Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Bus Crash on New Romney High Street
A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after a serious collision with a bus on New Romney High Street this afternoon.
Emergency Crews Descend on Scene
The crash happened at around 4:05pm on the A259 near Tritton Lane. Emergency services, including the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, alongside ambulance crews and police, quickly responded to the scene.
The pedestrian was treated on-site before being taken by road ambulance to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. Their condition remains unconfirmed.
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The patient was then taken by road to William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment.”
Traffic Chaos as Bus Service Cancelled
The crash caused a partial road closure and delays. Stagecoach cancelled the 4:21pm 102 bus service from Lydd to Folkestone due to the disruption.
By 5:30pm, traffic had returned to normal and the road was reopened.
Photos from the scene show the damaged bus parked on the High Street, with emergency responders still assisting.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Kent Police have yet to confirm if any arrests have been made or if an official investigation is underway. They are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
