Flames Rage Through Derelict Southborough Church
Firefighters scrambled to tackle a blazing fire at a derelict church on Vale Road, Southborough, last night (September 1). The inferno broke out just before 6pm, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing over the town.

Huge clouds of smoke could be seen drifting across the area, forcing officials to warn locals to keep windows and doors firmly shut. The choking fumes posed a health hazard to nearby residents.
The Kent Fire and Rescue Service also urged drivers to steer clear of the chaos. Heavy traffic snarled up London Road and Vale Road, both sealed off by police as firefighters battled the flames.
Firefighters Battle Blaze with Height Vehicle and Hoes
A fire service spokesperson said:
“Four fire engines are currently in attendance, and crews wearing breathing apparatus are using hose-reel jets and main jets to extinguish the flames. A height vehicle is also being used at the scene.”
