Car Crashes Into Trees on Staplers Road, Newport – Road Shut
A red Renault lost control and smashed into trees on Staplers Road in Newport in the early hours of Wednesday morning, sparking a road closure by Hampshire Police.
Single-Vehicle Crash Closes Key Route
The smash happened just after midnight on a sharp bend near the Isle of Wight Lavender Farm. The Renault reportedly skidded, spun 180 degrees, and ploughed into a hedge before slamming into a tree. The front of the car was wrecked, while the back came to rest tangled in bushes.
Police Block Road, Bus Routes Diverted
Officers have cordoned off one side of Staplers Road as the damaged car awaits recovery. Southern Vectis confirmed that bus number 9 will be diverted via Fairlee for the rest of the night. They apologised for the disruption but said the crash was beyond their control.
Driver’s Condition Unknown
Both airbags deployed in the crash, but police have not revealed if the driver was injured. The investigation and recovery operation continue. More updates to follow.
