When police forced their way in, chaos broke out. One officer was slammed with a piece of mortar, suffering a head wound that needed 10 stitches. Another was punched square in the face, while a third sprained his wrist after falling during the arrest attempts.

Two suspects held, one still on the run

Police arrested two men aged 27 and 42 at the scene. They’re facing suspicion of burglary, assaulting a police officer, and cultivating cannabis. Meanwhile, officers are hunting a third suspect linked to the incident.

Cannabis farm uncovered

Inside the property, cannabis plants were found growing in three rooms. Police confirmed these will be destroyed.

Inspector Richard Markham said: “Assaults on police officers who are simply carrying out their duties to keep our communities safe are completely unacceptable. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated and I am pleased we now have two individuals in custody in connection with this incident.”

“We continue to track down a third suspect and urge anyone with information to come forward. The production and distribution of drugs damage communities and often link to serious crime. We remain committed to cracking down on drug-related offences.”

Anyone with details is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 60 of 23 December 2022, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
