Shocking Park Attack: Cop Sexually Assaulted While Tackling Violent Suspect
On 22 May 2022, Dorset Police were flooded with emergency 999 calls from Winton Recreation Ground. Reports claimed two males were fighting – possibly involving a stabbing.
But it turned out only one man was the culprit, aggressively harassing park visitors and trying to pick fights. The madman even dropped his trousers and started masturbating, shouting abuse at stunned onlookers.
Hero PC Faces Frightening Assault
PC Chloe Chapman, responding alone, arrived to find the suspect wrestling with another man on the roadside. The moment she stepped out, the offender lunged at her, jumping on the bonnet of her marked police car before diving inside through the passenger door.
Inside the vehicle, he launched a violent attack. He pulled at her hair, punched out, grappled her uniform, and shockingly licked and kissed her face. All while reportedly wielding a knife.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, which included sexual assault, PC Chapman fight-back instincts kicked in. She pressed her emergency button – but in the chaos, it failed as the offender accidentally switched the radio channel.
Quick-Thinking Bystander Helps Save the Day
Thankfully, a member of the public rushed to assist. Together, they pulled the attacker from the car. PC Chapman drew her Taser as he tried to flee.
Though physically and sexually assaulted, she chased the man down. He pretended to surrender, but once she moved in to detain him, he attacked again. Too close for the Taser initially, she struggled but broke free to deliver a shock. It worked—briefly.
The violent offender sprang back up, ignored orders, and charged at a bystander. Luckily, the public tackled him to the ground.
Bravery Praised by Police Chiefs
With help, PC Chapman finally subdued the suspector and arrested him, moments before backup arrived.
“PC Chapman suffered a disgusting and highly personal attack. Despite this violation, she focused on keeping people safe with no thought for her own safety,” said 1 Federation Chair James Dimmack.
“Most would freeze in this situation. I’m incredibly proud of her and Dorset Police.”
Police Chief Constable Amanda Pearson added: “Chloe has already earned a Chief Constable’s commendation. These awards remind us of the bravery officers show daily and the risks they take.”
“Despite what she faced, Chloe stayed calm and professional. She deserves this recognition, and I wish her the best in these awards.”
