A reckless driver suspected of being drunk caused chaos on Hertford Road in Edmonton after smashing into a car carrying two young men. The violent collision spun the victims’ vehicle out of control, leaving it badly mangled.
Witnesses reported that the driver attempted a dangerous overtake of two buses before crashing into the other car. Following the collision, the motorist fled the scene but lost his number plate during the getaway. Police believe this plate could be crucial in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
The Metropolitan Police have launched a full investigation into the incident. Officers are currently analysing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements to track down the hit-and-run driver. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries have been reported so far, but the local community remains shaken by the event.
One witness expressed their concern, stating: “It’s terrifying to see how some people have no regard for others’ safety. I hope the police find this driver quickly and ensure justice is served.”
Hertford Road was temporarily closed to clear the wreckage and allow emergency services to operate safely.
The Metropolitan Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash or the identity of the suspect to contact them on 101. Providing the location and time of the incident will assist in bringing this dangerous driver to justice.
This is a developing story and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
