Police were scrambled to Shoreditch Mosque on Redchurch Street at 6.45pm on Wednesday, 18 May following a shocking racially and religiously aggravated attack.

A man hurled bottles at the mosque, smashing windows but leaving no one hurt. Authorities have yet to make any arrests.

Officers from the Met’s Central East Command Unit are leading the investigation. They have released CCTV footage showing the suspect near the scene, hoping to identify him quickly.

The local faith officer is now in talks with mosque representatives, and police will increase reassurance patrols in Shoreditch to keep the community safe.
