A 20-year-old man from Corsham narrowly avoided jail following a police raid as part of a major drug crackdown across Wiltshire.
On November 24, officers conducted a raid at a property on Limestone Drive under Operation Scorpion. During the search, police discovered a small quantity of cannabis along with a knuckle duster.
The man was arrested at the scene. However, instead of facing heavy charges, he was issued a community resolution, which requires him to complete a drug awareness course. Additionally, he received a caution for possession of the knuckle duster, which police have since destroyed.
PC Kevin Golledge explained the decision, stating, “We use community resolutions for low-level crimes to try to divert individuals, particularly first-time offenders, away from the formal criminal justice system. We use this as part of an educational strategy, aiming to reduce reoffending by addressing the root causes of drug use rather than imposing formal punishment.”
Wiltshire Police continues to urge the public to report any suspicious drug activity in their communities. Residents can remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers or can report directly to the police.
