Detectives have officially called off the search for Kayleigh Weston, who went missing from Longton on April 22. Her body was discovered on open land off Dorcas Drive, Blurton, on the night of Thursday, May 20.

Staffordshire Police recovered the body believed to be that of 33-year-old Kayleigh after a search lasting nearly a month. Detective Inspector Scott McGrath from CID North confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from police during this difficult time.

“Kayleigh’s family have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this very difficult time. They are being supported by police officers,” said DI McGrath. “This has been a tragic incident that has saddened everyone involved.”

The formal identification of the body will take place in due course. Meanwhile, detectives will continue their enquiries and prepare a report for HM Coroner as the investigation progresses.
