Three people were treated by paramedics after a bedroom fire broke out on Headcorn Road, Ashford. The fire is believed to have been caused by an overheated charger.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly to reports of the fire. Two fire engines arrived at the scene, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

South East Coast Ambulance Service treated three individuals at the scene. Fortunately, none of the injuries were serious.

Investigators have determined the fire was accidental and linked it to an overheated charger. Kent Fire and Rescue Service has issued urgent safety advice to help prevent similar incidents:

  • Always use the original charger that came with your device.
  • Never leave charging devices unattended or charging overnight.
  • Charge devices in a well-ventilated area and keep them uncovered to avoid overheating.
  • Unplug devices as soon as they are fully charged.

The fire service emphasizes that following these simple precautions can help stop similar fires and keep homes safer.
