Heartbreaking scenes unfolded at Dover’s Pencester Gardens early Wednesday morning after a 14-year-old boy died following an incident at the funfair construction site.
Emergency services were called to a “serious incident” at the funfair site at 7.42am on August 3rd. Despite their rapid response and efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The funfair, operated by Kent-based Forrest Amusements, was preparing to open to the public on Wednesday. Rides had only started being set up the day before the tragic event.
The boy, identified locally as Mckenzie Cook from Deal, was reportedly climbing on a ride still under construction, allegedly on a dare. Friends and community members have since laid flowers and cards near the funfair entrance in tribute.
A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service stated: “We were called at 7.42am on August 3rd to a serious incident at Pencester Gardens in Dover.” Kent Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The local community continues to mourn the tragic loss of a young life taken far too soon.
