Motorists on the A3 northbound near Buriton are experiencing long delays following a multi-vehicle collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and at least five cars.
The crash occurred just before 1pm, resulting in the closure of one lane while police and recovery teams attend to the scene.
Hampshire Road Policing officers called in contractors from Boarhunt to assist with the clean-up, and Highways England personnel are also present repairing damaged road furniture.
Reports indicate that a vehicle had broken down and the driver stopped to change a tyre. During this stop, a lorry performed a go-around manoeuvre when another car collided with it, triggering a chain reaction involving at least five other cars.
Emergency services, including South Central Ambulance, responded to the incident. One driver was taken to hospital with injuries described as not serious.
Several vehicles, including a dark BMW and a white Peugeot, sustained significant damage, while two other cars suffered minor dents. The lorry, operated by NV Transport based in Chichester, sustained damage to its rear trailer.
Drivers should expect ongoing delays as the investigation and recovery efforts continue. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
