Devastating Blaze Razes Outbuilding at 15th Century English Pub in Hook Green
A fierce fire gutted an outbuilding used for dining at The Elephants Head, a historic 15th Century pub in Hook Green near Lamberhurst, in the early hours of Friday morning.
Massive Fire Response Saves Historic Pub
Kent Fire and Rescue scrambled five fire engines, a water carrier, and 40 firefighters to battle the flames that engulfed the wooden and tin structure. The blaze reduced the outbuilding to a twisted wreck.
Fire crews deployed hose reels and jets to control the inferno, preventing it from spreading to the main pub building, which dates back to 1858.
Outbuilding Destroyed, Investigation Underway
The outbuilding, an integral part of the pub’s dining area, was totally destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters’ rapid response saved the historic pub from major damage.
Kent Fire and Rescue have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
