Body Found in River Itchen Sparks Murder Probe
Police are hunting for answers after a man’s body was found in the River Itchen near the Itchen Bridge on Saturday evening.
Man Believed to Be 22-Year-Old from London
Officers were called to the scene at around 5.30pm on April 6. While formal ID hasn’t been confirmed, the victim is thought to be a 22-year-old Londoner. His family have been informed, and police are treating the death as unexplained.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Robert Parkinson said: “Our focus is to find out how this young man ended up in the water near the Itchen Bridge. We’re asking anyone who was nearby on Saturday afternoon to come forward.”
He added, “Did you see a man enter the river or spot anyone acting suspiciously around that time?”
