Bondi Beach was struck by horror as a father and son unleashed a brutal shooting spree during a Hanukkah festival. Naveed Akram, 24, and his 50-year-old father fired approximately 50 bullets from a pedestrian footbridge, targeting innocent civilians celebrating at the iconic Sydney location.

Chilling drone footage captured one gunman firing wildly before elite police snipers took him down. His father continued shooting, reloading behind cover, before finally surrendering to officers.

The tragic rampage claimed 16 lives, with victims ranging in age from 10 to 87 years old. Over 40 people were injured, some critically, including several children who were rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital. Among the dead was British-born Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a beloved father of five, who was attending the festival with his family.

Eyewitnesses described heartbreaking acts of heroism amid the chaos. One such hero, Alex Kleytman, died while shielding his wife of 50 years.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the shooting as a hateful terrorist act, stating, “There is no place for this hate in our nation.” He vowed to take tough action to stamp out terror threats across Australia.

Questions are mounting over the police and intelligence response. ASIO revealed that one gunman was known to them but was not considered a current threat. “We need to investigate what happened,” admitted ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess.

Emotional scenes unfolded as police swarmed the site and arrested the surviving gunman. Heartbroken locals laid flowers at Bondi Pavilion in tribute to the victims. National leaders joined the grieving community in honouring those lost.

Sydney reels from one of its darkest nights as the nation unites to mourn and reject hatred.
