Police are investigating a serious collision in Sutton after a man was badly injured in a hit-and-run scare. The incident occurred at 3.55pm on Saturday, 25 May, on Central Road near the Green Lane junction in Worcester Park.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was struck by a black Mercedes Vito van. He sustained serious head injuries and was taken to a hospital in south London for treatment. His next of kin have been informed, though police are still awaiting an update on his condition.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the collision.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157, quoting reference CAD 5010/May25.
