The quiet community of Muswell Hill was shaken on Wednesday evening after a beloved church worker was stabbed outside Saint James’s Church. Neighbours described the victim as a “kind and generous soul,” known for running a youth club that has guided over 30 local children into adulthood.
Emergency crews responded to reports of an assault on St James Lane at 8:04 PM on Wednesday, November 27. Upon arrival, they found the woman, who is in her 40s, with stab wounds. She was promptly taken to hospital and treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police quickly arrested a teenage boy at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in custody while detectives continue their investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
Local residents expressed their shock and sadness following the attack. One neighbour said, “She’s a lovely lady, always putting others first. Her work with the church youth club has made such a difference in our community. It’s devastating to think she’s been hurt like this.” Another added, “This area is usually so peaceful. It’s hard to believe something like this could happen here.”
Forensic officers have cordoned off the crime scene to collect evidence. A weapon linked to the attack has been recovered. First aid kits and medical equipment used during the emergency remain visible at the scene.
