Early this morning (10 May), a man caught the attention of police after driving recklessly in Shepperton. When officers tried to stop him, he paused briefly – then sped off again, refusing to pull over.

The car was abandoned in Hersham. That’s when police called in their four-legged star, PD Ludo, to track the driver on foot. Ludo’s expert nose led officers to a man hiding in woodland close by.

Hounslow man arrested on multiple charges

The 38-year-old from Hounslow was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police.

PC George Larkin, PD Ludo’s handler, said: “Our police dogs play a vital role in helping us to track down suspects. Ludo may have been doing his day job, but his tracking skills help us to keep Surrey, and our communities, safe.”
