Police Hunt Man After Disturbing Incident in Dunfermline Park

Police Scotland have ramped up their probe after a troubling report of a possible assault on a young girl in Rex Park, Dunfermline. The incident, which rocked the local community, was reported on 16 March 2025. Yet more than a week on, no suspect has been caught.

Girl Shaken But Unharmed After Man Approaches in Park

At around 4:55pm, officers were called to Rex Park—a popular spot just southeast of Dunfermline city centre—after a witness spotted a young girl distressed by a man’s approach. Thankfully, the girl wasn’t injured and didn’t need medical help, but the sight alone sparked a major police response.

The suspect is described as a white male, early 40s, about 6ft tall with a slim frame. He’s balding with dark, messy hair and was last seen wearing a bright orange hooded jacket, blue jeans, and boots.

Massive Police Search Hits Dead End So Far

Since then, Police Scotland has launched “extensive enquiries,” Chief Inspector Christopher Dow revealed. Officers have hit up local residents and park visitors, checked with nearby schools, and scoured hours of CCTV footage.

“We’ve had a significant presence in Rex Park and surrounding streets since the report. Our aim is to understand exactly what happened and keep the public safe,” said CI Dow.

Despite the detailed description and widespread efforts, no more witnesses or victims have come forward, and CCTV has offered no clear evidence yet.

Community On Edge as Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

The mystery has left locals uneasy. “Rex Park is busy in the late afternoon. It’s strange no one else has seen anything,” CI Dow said.

Police promise to keep patrols up around the park and appeal for anyone with information to come forward. If you were in Rex Park on the afternoon of Sunday 16 March or recognise the man, call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 20250316-2475, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This case is a stark reminder to stay alert. Police continue to work tirelessly to keep Dunfermline’s public spaces safe for all.
