A woman has tragically died after fleeing a fire in a West London flat on Friday morning, June 27.
Emergency crews rushed to Marinefield Road in Sands End, Fulham, just before 9:10am following reports of a fire engulfing a three-room flat near Langford Primary School.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) dispatched two fire engines and approximately 10 firefighters to tackle the blaze.
The woman escaped the burning property before firefighters arrived but was taken to hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.
“Part of a three-roomed flat was damaged by the fire. One woman left the property before crews arrived and was taken to hospital by the Ambulance Service. Sadly, she later died at hospital,” confirmed the LFB.
The fire consumed the flat for over an hour, causing significant structural damage. Authorities have not disclosed the exact nature of the woman’s injuries or her identity.
The Metropolitan Police and specialist fire investigators from the London Fire Brigade have launched a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire. A cordon remains in place as inquiries continue.
This fatal blaze is the latest in a series of fires across London in recent weeks, prompting renewed warnings about fire safety as temperatures rise this summer.
