Ex-Partner Jailed for 30 Years for Decades of Abuse

Frederick Allchorne, 62, from Tidworth, Wiltshire, was slammed with 22 years in prison plus an extra eight years on extended licence. The sentence came down on Friday, 24 February, at Croydon Crown Court.

Victim Speaks Out After Years of Horrific Abuse

In August 2018, a woman in her 50s bravely walked into a Sutton police station to report years of torment from her ex-partner. Detectives from South Area Basic Command Unit launched an investigation after she revealed the shocking details.

She told officers the nightmare began in the mid-1980s when she was just 15. Throughout their relationship, every sexual act was forced. She was drugged and raped multiple times, often waking up tied to the bed with no memory of how she got there. On top of that, Allchorne would lock her inside their house against her will.

She finally escaped in September 1991.

Police Build a Strong Case from Decades-Old Evidence

Officers dug deep, tracing witnesses and gathering extensive evidence from both professionals and the public. This meticulous work led to multiple charges against Allchorne, who later admitted his guilt.

One chilling hospital visit revealed the victim’s tongue had rolled back in her throat, nearly choking her. Medical exams confirmed she was administered drugs against her will. A psychologist diagnosed her with complex PTSD and noted her severe, lifelong injuries.

Tina, the victim-survivor, said: “The officers believed in me, you have to come forward yourself. If you don’t, it will catch up with you one day. It’s time to take back control. Don’t suffer in silence, you are not alone. Please come forward and you will be heard.”

Detective Sergeant Laura Thomas added: “The victim-survivor has shown immense courage in standing up to Allchorne and making sure he faced justice. I praise her strength and commitment throughout this ordeal.”

Guilty Plea and Justice Served

Allchorne, already on the Sex Offences Register for life from a 2010 conviction, was charged on 2 March 2020. His trial was delayed but rescheduled for July 26, 2021. Just two days later, he pleaded guilty to:

  • Two counts of rape
  • Five counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent
  • Five counts of indecent assault on a woman over 16
  • One count of bigamy
