Cleaner Andrew Chambers Slapped with 10-Year Sexual Harm Order
Andrew Chambers, 33, of Oakley Road, has been hit with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for offences committed between 2016 and 2020.
Hunt for Victims on Social Media
At Lewes Crown Court on 5 December, prosecutors revealed how Chambers used social media platforms to target his victims. He tried to lure one girl to his home for sex and exposed himself to five others, sending explicit photos and videos.
He also coerced the girls into stripping and posing for sexual photos, all for his twisted gratification.
Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Evidence
Chambers, a cleaner by trade, was arrested on 26 January 2018. While on strict bail, a lengthy investigation uncovered sexually explicit messages and images sent through Facebook Messenger.
He faced charges including:
- Two counts of sexual communication with a child
- Two counts of causing or inciting sexual activity with a child
- One count of causing a child to watch a sexual image
He pleaded guilty on 17 October. On 5 December, the court suspended a two-year prison sentence for two years but handed down the 10-year SHPO, drastically limiting his contact with children and vulnerable people.
Strict Restrictions and Rehabilitation Ordered
The SHPO restricts Chambers’ internet use and requires him to report any personal changes, like new jobs — failure to comply could land him in jail. He must complete 300 hours of unpaid work and rehabilitation programmes, pay a victim surcharge, and stay on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.
Detective Sergeant Elaine Keating said: “Andrew Chambers preyed on the vulnerabilities of these young victims for his own sexual gratification.”
“This SHPO will allow us to monitor his activity and ensure he complies.”
“I thank the six brave girls for reporting these crimes and helping bring Chambers to justice. Their strength made this possible.”
“If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual offences, please report it online or via 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.”
