Teen Dies Days After Being Shot

West Midlands Police have named the teenage boy who died two days after being shot as 16-year-old Diego Henry. He was found wounded at a property on Lighthorne Avenue, Ladywood, on Sunday, 5 November, around 12.30pm.

Family Mourns Talented Teenager

Diego’s heartbroken mother described him as a “pleasant and well-mannered young man” who could “easily put a smile on anyone’s face.” She added:

“Diego will be sadly missed by his mother, father, siblings, and an exceedingly large circle of family and friends. He had a passion for music and was always singing, dancing or rapping wherever he went.”

“The circumstances surrounding Diego’s death are shocking to us all, but we are grateful for everyone’s support, prayers, and well wishes.”

Police Investigate Linked Death

During the investigation, officers discovered the body of a 17-year-old boy in shrubland near a local canal. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of his death. While this death is connected to Diego’s case, officers have confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in relation to Diego’s murder.

One Teen Arrested, Police Appeal for Information

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of Diego’s murder and remains on police bail. Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards from the homicide team said:

“This is a complex and tragic investigation. My sympathies are with the families of both boys. We are pursuing several lines of enquiry and urge anyone with information who hasn’t spoken to the police to come forward.”

“We have increased uniformed patrols in the area to reassure the community. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.”
