Huseyin Kalyoncu, 34, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the savage killing of his girlfriend, Sonia Parker, 51. The horrific attack took place in their home on Styles Close, Edenbridge.

At Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, Kalyoncu was ordered to serve a minimum of 19 years before he can apply for parole.

The fatal incident was sparked by a vicious argument over Ms Parker’s WhatsApp use. Kent Police arrested Kalyoncu on 5 May 2024 following the deadly assault. Paramedics fought to save Ms Parker but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensic experts revealed the terrifying extent of violence during the trial. Ms Parker suffered 69 injuries, including internal bruising, severe liver damage, and multiple broken bones. Some wounds dated back weeks, exposing a disturbing history of domestic abuse.

Kalyoncu first appeared in court on 13 June 2024, pleading guilty to manslaughter but denying murder. His refusal to admit guilt caused additional trauma for Ms Parker’s family.

Detective Superintendent Kathleen Way condemned Kalyoncu’s actions, stating his “inability to control his temper” led to this tragic loss and a significant jail term.

Authorities warn that domestic abuse can escalate with devastating consequences. Victims are urged to seek help immediately and report any violence. If you or someone you know is suffering domestic abuse, contact local support services or emergency services for assistance without delay.
