Kerry Ann Stevens, 40, a former solicitor, remains at large despite four active arrest warrants issued by Essex Police. Authorities have released a new mugshot as they intensify efforts to locate her.
Stevens has failed to appear in court on at least nine occasions and is wanted in connection with multiple ‘dine-and-dash’ incidents across Essex.
One notable incident occurred at The Castle Inn where Stevens and her boyfriend, Daniel Alani, allegedly left a bill of £62.20 unpaid. The bill included prawn cocktails, breaded mushrooms, two roast chickens, and drinks.
Ken Todd, the 76-year-old landlord of The Castle Inn, described the event: “The man tried to leave through the back door which was locked, and the woman reportedly attempted to flee through the bathroom window.”
Stevens faces 11 counts of making off without payment and one count of shop theft. Both Stevens and Alani were arrested at an address in Great Wakering on 2 May 2024 but were released on bail and subsequently failed to appear in court.
Essex Police have issued public appeals after the couple disappeared, with four warrants now outstanding. They are also accused of evading taxi fares, with one driver reporting that Stevens shouted at him for refusing her phone charger as payment.
Daniel Alani has admitted to theft-related offences and is scheduled for sentencing next Thursday.
Stripped of her solicitor licence in May 2024 amid the scandal, Stevens has transitioned from a legal professional to a wanted fugitive. Essex Police continue to urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kerry Ann Stevens and Daniel Alani to come forward immediately.
