A gun scare in Radford ended with two men arrested over fake weapons and Class A drugs following an armed police operation.
Reports of a gun sighting triggered a significant armed police response in Churchfield Lane, Radford, on Tuesday afternoon, 6 December. Officers were called at approximately 3.50pm after witnesses reported seeing what appeared to be a firearm in the area.
Police quickly located two men, aged 29 and 38, sitting on a bench within the church grounds. A search of the suspects uncovered two imitation handguns and an air rifle. Additionally, one of the men was found in possession of suspected Class A drugs.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of carrying imitation firearms in public. The younger man faces further charges related to possession of Class A drugs. They have since been released on conditional bail.
Inspector Andrew Hallam of Nottinghamshire Police stated: “Imitation firearms often look like the real deal. We never hesitate to take immediate action on any reports. This is a clear warning – carrying fake guns will land you in serious trouble. Our investigations continue, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”
