Alfie Foster, 22, faced serious charges after a late-night car crash in Hastings sparked a major police investigation. The incident has drawn significant attention in the local community.

Just after midnight on Sunday, 18 January, a car driven by Foster crashed into railings on St Helen’s Road. A 23-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Foster fled the scene but was arrested nearby by police.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 20 January, Foster pleaded guilty to assault, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, and home theft. However, he denied charges of kidnapping and non-fatal strangulation. Foster remains in custody pending a hearing at Lewes Crown Court scheduled for 18 February.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage is urged to report online or call 101, quoting Operation Fleetwood.
