Deadly Abuse: Angharad Williamson, John Cole & Teen Sentenced for Logan’s Murder
Three people were today handed heavy prison sentences at Cardiff Crown Court after being convicted of the savage murder of defenceless schoolboy Logan.
Harsh Sentences for a Brutal Crime
- Angharad Williamson, Logan’s mother, 31, slapped with at least 28 years behind bars.
- Her partner John Cole, 40, gets 29 years.
- A 14-year-old boy, unnamed for legal reasons, jailed for 15 years.
Mrs Justice Jefford branded the attack “horrifying” and said, “There are no words to describe his death other than tragedy.” She told the trio they bore full responsibility for Logan’s death and the pain left in its wake.
56 Injuries, ‘Fly-Tipped’ Like Trash
Logan, just 3ft 5in and 3 stone 1lb, was left with 56 catastrophic injuries – bruises, torn liver and bowel. The brutal assault happened at home. Prosecutors revealed his body was callously dumped in a river, described as “fly-tipped garbage.”
Months of Horror Before Logan’s Death
In the weeks before his death, Logan was “dehumanised.” His stammer worsened, he wet himself more and started self-harming. Cole had told pals he disliked Logan, fuelled by jealousy over alleged infidelity involving Williamson and Logan’s dad, Ben Mwangi.
Even darker, a support worker overheard the 14-year-old singing, “I love kids, I f****** love kids, I love to punch kids in the head, it’s orgasmic.”
Despite previous injuries – a broken arm in August 2020 and broken collarbone before Logan died – he was given no proper medical care. Logan wasn’t even on the child protection register at the time, removed just a month before he was killed.
Eleven days before his body was found on July 20, 2021, Logan had tested positive for COVID-19 and was locked in his tiny bedroom with a baby gate. Prosecutor Caroline Rees said, “He had been kept like a prisoner in his small bedroom… a room likened by Williamson to a dungeon.”
Logan’s heartbreaking story highlights brutal child abuse ignored until it was too late.
