On May 3, police carried out major raids in Reading and Swindon, targeting dangerous drug supply networks operating in the area.

Fortitude teams, supported by Neighbourhood Policing units, conducted simultaneous operations at Aldworth Close in Reading and Somerville Road in Swindon. During these raids, Katie Longmate, 37, from Aldworth Close, and Chakir Smith, 28, from London, were arrested and charged with supplying class A drugs, including heroin.

At Swindon Magistrates Court on May 4, Longmate pleaded guilty to the charges. She is currently in custody and is due to be sentenced on June 1 at Swindon Crown Court. Smith has denied the charges and was granted bail. He is also scheduled to appear at Swindon Crown Court on June 1.

The operation was initiated following intelligence reports about the supply of heroin and other class A drugs between Reading and Swindon. Police continue their efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
