Man Found Guilty of Savage Murder in Coventry Flat
A chilling murder has rocked Coventry after Patryk Skupinski, 37, was convicted of brutally killing his partner, Marlene Doyle, in their own home. The verdict was handed down at Coventry Crown Court following a harrowing trial.
Tragic Discovery and Hunt for Killer
Marlene Doyle, just 32, was found with horrific head injuries at a flat on Shakespeare Street on January 20 last year. A worried relative alerted police after not hearing from her for days. Investigators believe Marlene died up to five days before her body was found.
Skupinski vanished soon after, instantly marking himself as the prime suspect. Officers tracked him down hiding at his mother’s house in Coventry.
Friends and Family Accused of Helping Killer Hide
CCTV and phone records showed Skupinski was in contact with two friends, Michal Lada and Kinga Rybacka, on the night of January 15. Despite knowing about the murder, they sheltered him for three days.
Even Skupinski’s mother, Hanna, was implicated — she stayed in touch after the killing, tried to help him flee the country, and hid him for two days. She refused to cooperate with police at first.
Domestic Violence Background Revealed
Detectives revealed Marlene had suffered domestic violence before her death. Detective Sergeant Andy Wareham from West Midlands Police described the attack as “vicious and savage” in a place where she should have felt safe. While the murder weapon remains unknown, Marlene’s severe head injuries were fatal.

Family Plea to End Domestic Violence
Marlene’s mother, Gloria, issued a heartfelt plea: “No one should suffer in silence. Speak out and seek help if you are trapped in a toxic relationship.”
Detective Sergeant Wareham slammed those who helped Skupinski, calling their actions “heinous” and hoping the conviction offers some comfort to Marlene’s loved ones.
