Christmas behind bars for Middlesbrough drug dealer
Denis Tokar locked up for two years
Denis Tokar, 21, of Surrey Street, Middlesbrough, was sentenced to 24 months in prison on December 22. The young man was caught red-handed with crack cocaine and a lock knife after a police crackdown on local drug activity.
Crack cocaine haul worth £740 found
On November 23, Tokar was nabbed on Ayresome Street by Proactive Team officers. They seized crack cocaine estimated to be worth around £740. This wasn’t Tokar’s only brush with police that month.
Caught carrying a lock knife weeks later
Just ten days later, on December 3, officers stopped and searched Tokar again—this time on Parliament Road. They found him carrying a lock knife, adding to his run-ins with the law.
Police welcome sentencing
Sergeant John Sproson said: “We are pleased that Denis Tokar was sentenced and wasn’t able to cause misery to our local communities by selling drugs on the streets of Middlesbrough over the Christmas period, and won’t be able to do so whilst he serves his prison sentence.”
“Anyone who has concerns about drug dealing in our communities is urged to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously so that action can be taken.”
