Massive firearms haul shocks Lingfield after police swoop
You might recall the February lockdown of Drivers Mead and nearby streets in Lingfield. Police were called after a neighbour raised the alarm over an open door at a local address.
What officers found inside was staggering: a cache of 2,600 firearms stashed in the property.
Dealer caught red-handed with illegal guns
The man behind it, Brent Slade, a firearms dealer, faced justice on 13th November 2019. He was handed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Fines, destruction orders, and licence issues
- Slade was slapped with a £140 victim surcharge.
- A forfeiture and destruction order was issued for all the weapons.
- Crucially, Slade didn’t hold the proper licences for six of the firearms.
The drama put Lingfield in the spotlight, highlighting just how serious unlicensed gun possession can be. Police have since urged neighbours to report suspicious activity immediately.
