Couple Caught Growing £500k Cannabis Crop After Dramatic Escape Attempt
A couple caught red-handed growing more than 300 cannabis plants in a St Ives home tried to dodge arrest by leaping through a window and hiding in the loft.
Neighbours Tip Off Police Over Secret Cannabis Farm
In January, neighbours on London Road raised the alarm after spotting suspicious activity at a property. Police from Huntingdonshire’s neighbourhood team swooped on 10 January but found the front door barricaded against entry.
Police Bust Couple Hiding From Officers
As officers investigated, 43-year-old Chovan Ceo bolted through a window, while 50-year-old Lan Thi Nguyen was found tucked away under loft insulation.
Inside, police uncovered a sprawling cannabis farm worth an eye-watering £500,000 on the streets.
Jailed for Over Two Years for Cannabis Production
Both Ceo and Nguyen pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court and were slapped with prison sentences of two years and three months.
PC Tom Russell said: “Thanks to members of the community, this illegal drug won’t reach the streets and this pair is behind bars.”
He warned the public to spot signs of cannabis factories, like blacked-out windows and unusual comings and goings. The police stressed drug trafficking funds organised crime and linked offences such as modern slavery.
