Detectives have made significant progress in the murder investigation of 43-year-old Koray Alpergin, who was found dead near Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate last October. Essex Police discovered Koray’s body on the morning of October 15, 2022, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command has taken over the case, providing ongoing support to Koray’s grieving family. The murder trial began on September 18 at the Old Bailey, where six men are charged with murder and kidnap.
The men on trial are Ali Kavak, 26, from Tottenham; Junior Kettle, 32, of Kingsdown Road, Islington; Steffan Gordon, 34, from Dehavilland Close, Northolt; Tejean Kennedy, 32, of Cricklewood Broadway, NW2; Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 35, from Dunbar Road, N22; and Kyrie Mitchell-Peart, 32, of Grange View Road, N20.
Also facing trial is Erdogan Ulcay, 56, from Camden, who is charged with perverting the course of justice. A 17-year-old has already pleaded guilty to the same charge and is awaiting sentencing.
In related developments, Isay Stoyanov, 43, from Remington Road, N15, has been charged and remanded in custody. His trial is set for July 1, 2024, at the Old Bailey. Additionally, six other men aged between 29 and 44 remain on bail following murder-related arrests. One 55-year-old suspect has been released without further action.
